Playgroups Celebrate New Lease on Centre

PLAYGROUP Queensland will now hold the keys to one of the best community centres in the region after a landmark lease swap with Ipswich City Council.

The new Ipswich Playgroup Centre will be the home of three playgroups, as well as the venue for a new Play Connect group for Ipswich families with children with autism.

The centre will also still be available for rent for other community groups.

A "messy play day" was held on Wednesday to celebrate the official opening.

Crowds flocked to the event with activities such as face painting, goop and slime and finger painting.

Playgroup Queensland CEO Mark Brooke said more than 35 families were already involved in the program.

"Upon opening, the Ipswich Playgroup Centre will welcome many families through its doors through playgroups, parenting workshops and other programs," Mr Brooke said.

"A generous lease opportunity from Ipswich City Council, along with funding from the Ipswich Community Development Grant has enabled us to purchase resources and equipment. …
