Byline: TOPHER SANDERS
Duval County School Board members rated Superintendent Ed Pratt-Dannals as "highly effective" during his first full-year as the district's leader, according to evaluations released by the school district on Tuesday.
Each of the six board members' reviews largely praised Pratt-Dannals' performance. The district said board member Vicki Drake's evaluation was unavailable but did not say why.
Pratt-Dannals said the good marks are a reflection of the positive progress the district is making.
"The key, I think, is not just where the superintendent's rated, but where are we headed as a district and are we doing that as a superintendent and board team," he said, "and I feel very positive about where we are and where we're going."
Pratt-Dannals was rated in 48 categories across seven areas: relationships with the School Board, community relationships, staff and organizational relationships, educational leadership, fiscal leadership, personal qualities and an overall performance rating.
Board members rated the 48 aspects on a scale from 1 to 5, with 1 meaning "unsatisfactory" and 5 meaning "excellent performance."
The board last reviewed Pratt-Dannals performance in August 2008 after he had been on the job for only nine months.
Chairman Tommy Hazouri gave Pratt-Dannals an overall rating of highly effective. …
