Hauritz Brings the Curtain Down on Langer

NATHAN Hauritz played his part in making it a time to say goodbye in the Champions League Twenty20 competition in India yesterday.

The 28-year-old former Hervey Bay junior cricketer and his New South Wales team-mates made sure English county Somerset said goodbye to their hopes of winning the mega-rich competition after crushing them by six wickets in Hyderabad.

The defeat also signalled the end of the road for Somerset captain, former Australian star Justin Langer.

Hauritz had the final say in ending Langer's 18-year career.

He caught the West Australian off the bowling of Stuart Clark for five in Somerset's total of seven for 111.

Hauritz bowled three overs in the innings, finishing with figures of one for 14.

New South Wales scored four for 112 in reply to secure a place in the semi-finals.

The victory will see New South Wales now either travel to Delhi or stay in Hyderabad to face Victoria or the Cape Cobras in the semi-finals, depending on last night's result between Trinidad and Tobago and the Diamond Eagles from South Africa. …
