There will be cooking, organic growing and worm farm demonstrations. What hay bales can be used for, organic pest control, how you start a garden and how to propagate your own seeds will all be covered, so bring a picnic lunch or barbecue. Salads from the garden will be provided.

Alley artists

WE'VE hijacked a Rockhampton alleyway and filled it with community art exhibitions, art installations and music. The Guerrilla Arts Alleyway Festival takes place on Saturday afternoon, October 24, at Quay Lane, next to the Heritage Tavern. The Alleyway Festival is a celebration of our community, highlighting the uniqueness of our urban environment and the wealth of local talented artists. One feature of the event will be Opening Night, an exhibition where artists have been asked to respond to a simple cardboard box. The finished works are returned through the mail and will be opened up during the Alleyway Festival. Spend a Saturday afternoon immersed in an alternative reality where art and music abound - Saturday, October 24, Heritage Tavern Alleyway, 1pm - 8pm. Entry into the Guerrilla Arts Alleyway Festival is $10. A licensed bar area will operate with a "no-ID, no-service" policy and all under-18 people must be accompanied by a responsible adult.
