Classic 'Must-Fish' for Anglers Everywhere

THE RAMADA Hervey Bay Game Fish Classic now recognised among game-fishermen as a "must-fish" event will be held on November 12 to 15.

This is the 13th year the classic has been held in the waters off Hervey Bay.

As usual the fleet will base itself in the Rooney Point-Sandy Cape area and fish the productive waters around the Breaksea Spit and to the east of Fraser Island.

With the support of a mother-ship providing meals, beds, showers and a social focus and a fuel barge even trailer boats can comfortably fish the three day event without returning to Urangan.

The tournament has categories for light and heavy tackle line classes and vessels up to and over 7.5 metres in length. There are special categories for junior and female anglers.

The tournament's focus is on tag and release fishing with major points awarded for the capture, tagging and release of billfish (marlin, sailfish, swordfish) and lesser points for such species as wahoo, tuna, mahi-mahi and cobia. …
