Court Told Woman, 40, Attacked, Spat on Police; Officers Face Months of Disease Testing

A WILSONTON mother who is alleged to have spat in the face of two police officers and then urinated and defecated in the back of a police car faced court yesterday.

Katrina Elizabeth Lipsett, 40, appeared in the Toowoomba Magistrates Court charged with two counts of serious assault on police, obstructing police and drink-driving.

Toowoomba Police sergeant Vern Holcombe said police were initially called to an argument involving Lipsett in Tara Street at 5.30pm Sunday.

She left the address in a car and was intercepted in Erin Street at 5.35pm and breath tested.

Sgt Holcombe said Lipsett recorded a blood alcohol concentration of 0.140%, almost three times the legal limit.

She was arrested and became aggressive, threatening to assault the officers.

Sgt Holcombe said Lipsett was placed in the back of the police car and the officers were trying to put her feet inside the car when she spat in their faces. …
