Pubs to Still Serve Drinks in Glasses

TWO Ipswich pubs told by authorities that they would have to stop serving drinks in glasses by the end of the year will now no longer have to switch to plastic cups.

The Federal Hotel (Squealing Pig) and International Players Cabaret and Sportsbar in Ipswich were initially listed in July as "high risk" pubs.

But an Office of Liquor and Gaming Regulation (OLGR) spokesperson confirmed the two pubs were no longer on the list, and that no other pubs in Ipswich would be added to it.

"This list was of all premises that might be considered high risk based on these proposed criteria," the spokesperson said. "One was any premises trading beyond 3am was automatically deemed high risk.

"The Ipswich premises were on this list due to their late trading hours.

"During the formulation of the legislation, the criteria evolved and now captures premises that pose a more significant risk to patrons. …
