WITH only three rounds to go before the finals commence, the leading teams are trying to assert their strength in the Gympie Volleyball premiership.

In B grade, Victor Luck and Vicki Knight led the way in Corvette Cruisers straight sets win over an undermanned Motley Crew.

Lorelle and Alicia Scott had strong games assisting What The! to a hard fought win over Fungus. Vertically Challenged won in straight sets over Ozwide who put up some stubborn resistance.

In C grade Milkos got back to their early season form with a win over Farside. Scott Riddiford and Carolyn Crossley had good games.

The Edge continued their late season charge up the premiership table with a win over Brodie Bunch.

LDS snuck back into third place after receiving a forfeit from Mighty Boys.

Woodies and Tin Can Bay showed why they hold down the top two spots in A grade with straight set wins over Hookers and Auscredit Aces respectively. Both teams took the first and second sets by comfortable margins with their key play makers and spikers leading the way. Luke Hudson and Karl Christiansen from Woodies along with Harry Long and Bronson Purnell from Tin Can Bay all put in strong performances.

A very even result in the women's competition this week, with all matches being decided in the third set.

Firebugs had a come from behind win to take the honours over Amigos. Vicki Knight played a solid game for Firebugs while Donna Hourigan finished off several points for Amigos.

De Team had a win over Designer Beez, with Casey Worth and Nicole Barton setting up the plays for De Team.

Blue Js had a close win over Drop Bears. Blue Js took the first set comfortably with good play from Dani Mitchell and Demalsa Simpson after losing the second set they came back strongly in the third.

This weekend the Gympie representative sides head to Bundaberg for the next round of the Queensland Country Cup. …
