A JUNIOR football club has its long-awaited "Tardis" in place - but still needs plenty of help to foot the bills.

Formed in the 1994/95 season, Redcar Town JFC began with just two Under-11s teams.

Now the club runs 17 teams in the Teesside Junior Football Alliance, ranging in ages from Under-7s to Under-16s, and has a new clubhouse at its latest home, the Mo Mowlam Memorial Park, off Redcar's Trunk Road.

Funded by a pounds 420,000 Football Foundation grant, the building - described as a "Tardis" by chairman Lee Round - may look modest from the outside but it contains six changing rooms, a kitchen, a small social room and a referee's room. Now the club wants to make things outside spick and span too.

The club feels by upgrading their facilities, it will help it become "more integrated with the local community" and encourage children from less privileged backgrounds to get involved in junior football.

And to help fund the planned improvements, the club has signed up to the Gazette's Wish campaign. …
