AirAsia Is Going 'Gang Busters'; More Seats Available from February

INCREASINGLY popular cheap air flights between the Gold Coast Airport and Kuala Lumpur are set to become a daily event.

Queensland Premier Anna Bligh yesterday announced discount airline AirAsia plans to operate daily services from February.

Ms Bligh said as of February 6 the company, AirAsia X ,would operate 2681 weekly seats from Kuala Lumpur to the Gold Coast, an increase of 383 seats per week.

The move would take the frequency of flights from six days a week to daily.

"AirAsia X is truly one of Queensland's great airline success stories, offering great service and highly competitive airfares into one of Australia's premier tourism destinations - the Gold Coast," Ms Bligh said.

"The company was convinced to choose the Gold Coast over Melbourne by our government three years ago, and since launching two years ago the partnership has gone from strength-to-strength."

Ms Bligh said when the airline launched in 2007 it had four weekly services into the Gold Coast on an Airbus A330. …
