Filming The Reef ends soon

Filming on The Reef will soon come to an end but movie buffs will get a glimpse of life on the film set this week.

The multi-million dollar movie, about a four-metre great white shark, is being made around Fraser Island. Some of the uncut footage of the thriller will be broadcast live via the internet.

The Australian production has been based in the Great Sandy Marine Park for the past three weeks and is expected to soon go into post-production ahead of its release late next year.

Director Andrew Traucki will stream live takes from the movie set on Thursday from 9.30am. Those with Twitter, Facebook and YouTube can also view the live stream.

Salvage of tug boat on way

A tug boat arrived on the eastern side of Fraser Island yesterday to help salvage a 180-tonne trawler stranded in the shallows.

The 20-metre vessel ran ashore on Wednesday 3.5km north of Yidney Rocks.

The trawler's entire crew was believed to have been asleep when the incident occurred. …
