GREAT news this week with Tweed beating Ballina in round two of the SCG Country Cup.

However even better news was young South Tweed Colts batsman Tait Burns breaking through with his maiden First Grade hundred, 105 not out against Ballina on Saturday.

I have known Tait since he was about 14 and it is great to see a young player, who has so much potential, rewarded with his first top-grade 100.

Tait backed it up the next day with a great 95 against Casino in the SCG Country Cup at Oakes Oval, Lismore.

Tweed batted first, amassed 9/264 then rolled Casino for 130.

The only danger was gun Casino bat Sam Irvine, but he eventually fell for 54.

Casino were never in the hunt once they lost him.

LOWER graders were also getting among the 100s last weekend.

Cudgen second grader Matt DeGroot knocked up 105 not out, and Colts' third batsman Reece Hider got 114 not out.

Other knocks of interest were the "old blokes", Jeff Singh 60, Wes Hamilton 59 and Butch McDonald 46 - all in third grade. …
