BOLDON CA will fly the flag on behalf of the Wearside League in the Durham Challenge Cup when they line up against Crook Town on South Tyneside.

Former Cleadon SC supremo Doug Key, recently appointed joint Boldon boss, said: "We are the remaining survivors and it would be good to reach the third round, but whatever the outcome the experience will be good for our young squad."

Key anticipates having a full squad on standby including Mark Johnson, Nick Quinn, David Hopper, James Hudson and Mark Williams.

Several clubs are on cup duty restricting the league programme to just four fixtures. Jarrow will aim to move back into the top six by defeating New Marske, where manager Dave Bell will hand a debut to Martin Carrick.

New Marske hope to sign a centreback before kick-off but will definitely include Steve Barker, who played his first game last week.

Annfield Plain visit Houghton Town and the only absentee is Eddie Miller, while Coxhoe Athletic welcome the return of Tony Lee and Michael Owens for their home clash with Ashbrooke Belford House. …
