On Fast Track to Glory; US-Inspired Pascoe Revved Up for Crack at National Title

A MAJOR learning trip in America and a rebuilt car have North Ipswich driver Matt Pascoe propelling full throttle towards a national title this season.

Pascoe, 32, finished second in last year's 10-round super sedan Australian championships which came down to the final race.

However, a productive off-season has Pascoe keen to go one better in the 2009/2010 series starting next month.

"We want to win that one," he said.

"We've got a better car, a better package this year."

Pascoe spent three weeks in June crewing for teams in the United States, bringing home valuable knowledge to improve his car's performance.

"It was mostly learning about the set-up on the cars," he said.

"We did nine race meetings in 10 days. We found some good stuff in that."

The result is a gain of 60 horsepower in his Sport engine and Sweet chassis which was rebuilt at his Willowbank workshops. Sweet is the name of his engine-building business. …
