It Is Play Time for Megatoys; City Company Explores Export Market

CHANCES are if the kids have been to a McDonald's playground lately they would be climbing on a piece of equipment made right here in Bundaberg.

In a Production Street workshop that resembles Santa's toy shop, which is full of brightly coloured tubes, metal rods and safety mats, a dozen workers are in the midst of taking over the world one play area at a time.

Megatoys general manager Michael Vella, who has run the company since February last year, said that over the last four years the company has gone global.

It sells play equipment in New Zealand, the South Pacific, Asia and the Middle East - while maintaining its Australian clientele - which includes the company best known for its golden arches.

With this level of experience in the export business, Mr Vella is well placed to advise other companies of the dos and don'ts of dealing with international markets.

This will be his topic of choice at the Economic Development Forum to be held on November 19-20. …
