Open Races All Day

Article excerpt

Byline: GARRY ADCOCK

Race 1

A good quality maiden field over the short course with the gelding by Sequalo , Seethrough, looking the winner on paper. Seethrough started a short-priced favourite at Toowoomba last start on Melbourne Cup day and was a good second over 850m.

Optional was flattened at the start at her most recent start at Ipswich and did start favourite at her only previous start at Dalby so is a definite show and the unraced Norocos from the Norm Hilton stable should be watched.

Garry's selections: 1st Seethrough, 2nd Optional, 3rd Norocos.

Race 2

This is a most difficult race with a number of strong winning chances and punters should get value about any horse they like.

Swamp Donkey was well supported at his first and only start at Ipswich but did disappoint but where there is smoke, there is fire. Volkalo has been placed here and at Clifton recently and is trained on the track.

Richmond Lad ran a good race on debut at Ipswich and will find this easier maybe.

Goody Four Shoes has a number of recent placings to her credit, as does Stylish Impulse and the first starter Lady Agulhas by Dane Shadow is an interesting runner. Trained by Tom Dougall and to be ridden by Ron Goltz, making the trip for this ride only, she may be the one.

She is badly drawn and has no experience so has to be taken on trust. I am prepared to go that gamble and she may be at good odds.

Garry's selections: 1st Lady Agulhas, 2nd Richmond Lad, 3rd Goody Four Shoe.

Race 3

Kwillem is having his first start for Norm Hilton who has been training up a storm with a big plunge winner in Brisbane recently.

Kwillem is a last-start winner in Class 1 company in Toowoomba on Melbourne Cup day and drops back to a Class B here so looks to be perfectly placed.

Shumie has finished second at four of his past five starts so deserves a breakthrough here.

Last-start Dalby winner Flashing Flora also placed at Toowoomba recently and is going well enough to win here. …
