School Turns Blue for Cause

MT LARCOM State School kids were a little blue yesterday.

Raising money for World Diabetes Day, the school held a "Blue Do" with the students wearing their finest blue and donating to the cause.

"It was a student council initiative," said Mt Larcom teacher Tiffany Vernon.

"They chose to support this cause as diabetes affects many members of the community and family of the students."

Diabetes Australia Queensland CEO Michelle Trute said it was great to see schools like Mt Larcom getting behind the cause.

"I congratulate Mt Larcom State School for their support in raising awareness of all types of diabetes," Ms Trute said.

"It's a call to action to know the warning signs of diabetes and understand the serious impact of diabetes on the community.

"Queenslanders need to know how to avoid diabetes and the health complications associated with the disease."

Diabetes is a leading cause of blindness, kidney failure, heart attack, stroke and amputation. …
