Four Decades of Frocks; Service with a Smile Has Kept Angie Her Loyal Clientele

IT IS rare nowadays for anyone to stay in the same profession for 40 years, let alone in the same business. But this week, Angie Nutt celebrates four decades of owning and operating Lismore's Angelica's Boutique.

The women's fashion store has made its name by catering to all age groups - particularly the often neglected 50-plus.

"A lot of people from outlying districts come here. Just last week I had two ladies from Maryborough in Queensland, who come every year for a big buy-up, so I must be doing something right," Mrs Nutt said.

It's been a long journey, punctuated by the sad loss of colleagues and humorous anecdotes.

Mrs Nutt's career started when she left school at 16 and got a job with Rockmans, which had just arrived in town. When they sold out to Woolworths and she was promoted to management, one of her colleagues told her she could run her own clothing store. She decided to give it a go. …
