Appeal to Honour Dedicated Teacher

EMBRACING The Queensland Times Adopt-a-Family for Christmas appeal has added significance for the Ipswich Central State School community.

The school will once again dedicate their efforts to the memory of deputy principal Adelle Fyfe, who tragically lost her life in 2006 after she was struck and killed by a garbage collection truck while walking the short distance from home to work.

Ipswich Central chaplain Phil Staines said Mrs Fyfe had been a dedicated supporter of the appeal prior to her untimely death.

"It kind of flows from who she was," Mr Staines said.

"She cared about people and made a dedicated personal effort to help people in the community.

"Everyone speaks highly of her and how important she was to the school.

"She lived for the kids."

Mr Staines said participation helped teach students valuable lessons.

"It makes them look outside their world and see what is happening in their community," he said. …
