Crunch Time Will Come in January; Strachan's Doing Well to Plug Gaps, but

GORDON Strachan needs to weave his magic in January if Boro are to win promotion.

The Boro boss has made another swoop by bringing in another temporary loan signing in Dave Kitson and I think the Stoke lad will be a great addition to the squad.

But Strachan is merely filling gaps at the moment with his loan players.

The crunch time will come in January when the new gaffer has the chance to make some permanent signings.

We must have some strikers who can put the ball in the net on a regular basis.

You've got to hand it to Strachan. He identified the problem from day one and he's brought in two strikers on loan already.

The bottom line, though, is that we must have strikers with scoring records at this level.

That's why I think Kitson is a good acquisition for the team. I've looked up his record and he's scored a goal in every two-anda-half games -that's the sort of striker we need. I know that Kitson hasn't scored many goals in the Premier League with Stoke, but let's face it, they don't play football.

No disrespect to Stoke. They have a successful system which works for them. That's why they have stayed in the Premier League.

But it's route one football and it doesn't seem to suit Kitson. It hasn't suited Tuncay either, judging by the amount of football he has played since he went there.

But Kitson will enjoy it here because we create chances. He's a big lad and a strong lad and hopefully he will get on the end of them.

I like him. He's my kind of player. He's good in the air, he's got good control and he's an all-round good player.

I hope Kitson can get half a dozen goals or more for us while he is here. If he does that, I wouldn't be surprised to see Strachan tempt Stoke with an offer for the player in January.

Clearly it will be a blow if Kitson goes back to The Potteries after scoring a bagful of goals here. …
