THE South Shields open shore competition had an entry of 306 seniors and 15 juniors, of which 74 weighed in 241 fish for a total weight of 256lb 9oz.

The winner with the heaviest single fish was Chris Hossack with a cod of 3lb 9oz, worth pounds 500.

The heaviest bag was taken by Paul McIntyre with 16 fish for 14lb 8oz, and next was Gavin Owen with 14 fish for 12lb 2oz.

The Seaham Town Council Open held on the same day had an entry of 135 rods and 41 weighed in 110 fish for a weight of 108.66lb.

The hsf was taken by Martin Peel 4.76lb, which brought him pounds 350.

Second hsf was Darren Swan with a cod of 2.72lb and third was Joe Coyle 2.59lb and the heaviest bag was taken by Paul Westmoreland with 10 fish for 11.06lb. Bedlington Station SAC: 14 rods, eight weighed in. First was Steve Surtees three fish from Newbiggin for 12lb, which included the hsf of 9lb 4oz. …
