HUCKNALL TOWN'S Geordie boss Brian Chambers left a bottle of champagne and a card in the dressing room for Durham City counterpart Lee Collings before Saturday's game at Watnall Road.

But that was as much hospitality as the Yellows gave to rock bottom Durham as they became the sixth side this season to put seven goals past City's youngsters.

The 7-1 drubbing also saw Durham pass the 100 goals conceded mark in just 19 league games, all defeats, an unwanted milestone for Collings.

He said: "You don't want to be the manager of a side that ships a century of goals in the first half of the season but that is the reality of the situation we find ourselves in.

"It was a nice gesture by Chambers, who sympathised with our predicament and admired the work going on against the odds.

"It would have been nice to celebrate our first point with the champagne and while it looks like another hammering it was never a 7-1 game.

"It was goalless after half an hour and we could have been 3-2 up at half-time instead of two goals down. …
