Avoiding shoddy handymen

WITH Christmas approaching homeowners might be in the mood for some repairs this festive season. The Mackay District Crime Prevention Unit is warning all household owners to watch out for the pitfalls associated with unknown handymen. Mackay District Support Functions Officer, Acting Inspector Dianne Bubb said: "People need to make informed decisions and not feel compelled to act straight away. Don't let anyone talk you into accepting their quote immediately and paying cash upfront." Reports in Mackay have been made that people are offering to paint houses, collecting money upfront with the work never being carried out. The police are urging people to be safe and if they sense suspect activity to contact their local police station.
