A REGENERATION milestone has been reached by Erimus Housing in its aim to revitalise communities on Teesside.

The Middlesbrough-based company has carried out its 1,000th demolition to give major facelifts to neighbourhoods across the area.

The landmark was reached when Erimus's managing director Chris Smith started work to clear Derwent House -a sheltered scheme of 25 flats in Billingham. The scheme is being redeveloped following its ownership being transferred from Stockton Council to Erimus.

Chris said: "It is a real landmark that we have reached our 1,000th demolition and it is something we want to celebrate.

"Clearing problematic properties has proved to make a really positive contribution to the communities they are situated in."

Properties knocked down so far include 265 in Grove Hill, where Erimus Housing, in conjunction with Middlesbrough Council, is carrying out a massive regeneration scheme to transformthe estate, as well as two blocks of unpopular high rise flats in Netherfields. …
