Alison's Cambodian Bike Ride No Walk in the Park

MORE than just a physical challenge, working with Cambodian orphans has left a lasting emotional mark on Alison McGrath.

The Recruitment Queensland managing director joined 20 other women recently to tackle a recent two-week Cambodian cycle challenge.

Run by Business Chicks and Inspired Adventures, the ride aimed to raise money for Kids Help Line and highlight the plight of Cambodian orphanages.

Ms McGrath said the group had balanced their time riding the back roads of Cambodia with work in the Sunrise Children's Orphanage.

"We would cycle to places so remote, the old people in the village would just laugh when they saw us," Ms McGrath said.

"It was a sight to see 14 women on push bikes with brightly coloured helmets."

To prepare herself for the gruelling five to six hours a day on the bike, she said she had set herself a number of physical challenges, such as the recent 100 kilometre Brisbane to Gold Coast charity ride. …
