ICONIC landmark Roseberry Topping came alive in a spectacular festival of light.

The stunning scene created the centrepiece of Odin's Glow - an event which brought performances and illumination to the village of Newton under Roseberry.

The festival began with a bang and around 8,000 people visited the village to see Odin's Glow.

As well as the dramatic transformation of the "mini-Matterhorn", nine other specially commissioned installations were created using light. A number of community projects were also part of the event created by everyone from school children to local farmers offering music and performing arts. The event took its name from the Nordic god of battle - Odin - who Roseberry Topping was originally named after. Odin's Glow celebrates that history and the myths and legends surrounding Odin.

Normanby couple Richard and Gaye Giles brought their three children Callum, nine, Ella, seven and 18-month-old Ethan, to the event. …
