SPRUCE up your home this festive season with a cracking Christmas tree -MARIE TURBILL checks out some of the best.

TRISH Lucas already has her Christmas tree up at home -in fact it went up on December 1. While she puts it down to her husband, there is no mistaking gardener Trish is a fan of the festive firs too.

"Ours is a Nordman," she says knowledgeably, a popular choice as it keeps its needles longer than most.

But there are lots of varieties to choose from.

At Strikes Garden Centre, Stokesley, where Trish works, she says the range includes the Nordman, Noble Fir, Lodgepole, Scots Pine, Korean and Fraser.

All come in different shapes and sizes and each has its own plus points.

"The Nordman keeps its needles better but the Spruce is traditional and has that gorgeous smell," says Trish, pictured above.

The trick is to choose the one that best suits your own needs.

Last year Strikes sold around 1,000 trees and expects the same again this year. …
