Multi-Sport Day Was a Whole Lot of Multi-Fun

FUN was the name of the game on Thursday as local children with disabilities tested their skills in a range of sports.

Communities NSW (Sport and Recreation division) hosted a Disability Multi-sport day for children from primary and secondary schools.

Development officer, North Coast Sport and Recreation, Sharyn Anderson said the day provided an opportunity for children to become involved in sport.

"They were able to try Little Athletics, as well as modified AFL, football, rugby league, and even javelin," she said.

"A lot of schools cancelled because of the heat but those who did come have been full of praise and are hopeful that it will become an annual event."

Alan Skipper of Maclean High School said the day was good for the kids to be 'out and socialising through sport with other schools'.

"They're having fun and socialising with other schools," he said.

"They have their chosen sport at school but it's usually with mainstream students. …
