HOLLYWOOD HUNK HOME FOR XMAS; Ex-Rocky Boy Makes Move on Tinseltown

IT'S not often a smalltown girl meets a Hollywood star in the making.

But this week I met former Rockhampton lad Alex Russell, who already has heads turning in Hollywood.

The 22-year-old arrived home this week to spend the Christmas break with his family after a whirlwind year making his first feature film and being cast in an upcoming Hollywood production.

Alex, who has recently been reported in national media as being on a "Heath Ledger-like journey to becoming Australia's next big name", said it wasn't always smooth sailing.

At school he was known as "the porker" and would dream of one day having muscles like his heroes Arnold Schwarzenegger and Jean Claude van Damme.

During primary school, the big thing Alex had going for him was his creativity and imagination.

He followed his passion and went on to study at famous Sydney drama school NIDA, from which he graduated last year.

The last three months Alex has spent in Hollywood and he's already making progress in his career. …
