CHRIS HUGHTON has revealed he is happy to stay out of the limelight this season.

The Newcastle Unitred manager goes into the Tyne-Tees collision with Middlesbrough tomorrow with fans yet to chant his name or invent a song for the man who has led the Magpies to the top of the Coca-Cola Championship.

Hughton accepts he will never be as popular as messianic figures such as Kevin Keegan, Sir Bobby Robson or Alan Shearer - and feels that energy from tomorrow's biggest crowd of the season would be better channelled towards the XI in black-and-white shirts.

When asked if he was affected by the lack of his own personal Toon tune, Hughton - three-times manager of the month this season - told the Chronicle ahead of his biggest match in charge so far: "It doesn't bother me at all.

"I'm very comfortable as I am and want it to stay this way.

"My concerns are always that the fans do what they have been doing and are likely to continue doing - and that is backing the 11 lads out there. …
