Lighting Up Riders' Way on BMX Track

MACKAY Pioneer BMX Club treasurer Tammy Comerford was absolutely rapt when she found out the club had received $30,000 worth of funding.

The club applied for funding through the Gambling Community Benefit Fund and will now be able to upgrade their lighting and install lighting towers.

She said it could not have come at a better time as the club will hold the state titles in September next year.

"The lighting will be used to light up the complete track - which will be excellent for those riding at night.

"It is so wonderful because we have had the same light at the club since it was built 20 years ago," she said.

Joining the Mackay Pioneer BMX Club are Mercy College Parents and Friends Association, which will receive $28,513; New Life Community Services, $27,272; Pioneer State High School Parents and Citizens Association $27,053; East Mackay Kindergarten Association, $24,544. …
