Magic Snow Adventure Is an Annual Sell-Out

Northern Sinfonia: The Snowman at The Sage, Gateshead.

THIS festive treat is as much an annual tradition as the screening of It's A Wonderful Life over at Tyneside Cinema.

And it's just as guaranteed to get you in the right frame of mind for Christmas, especially if you've spent the last few days stressed out.

Of course, it's great if you're reviewing as you don't need an excuse -like children -to see it.

Yesterday's child-friendly atmosphere in Hall One -tinsel and Christmas hats on stage -invites us all to sit back and enjoy, as conductor Alan Fearon and Northern Sinfonia lead us through The Skater's Waltz (Waldteufel) and on three Sleigh Rides (Leroy Anderson and by both Mozart and his dad, Leopold Mozart) accompanied by jingling bells, sound of hooves and cracking whips.

The double draw, of course, is we get two treats for the price of one, and in the second half we watch the animated film The Snowman -adapted from Raymond Briggs' children's story -on a big screen, as Northern Sinfonia plays the score. …
