NYE Laid-Back in Party Town; Decade Kicks off in Orderly Style in Byron

HORIZONTAL was the favoured position and a greasy breakfast the meal of choice for hundreds of revellers recovering from New Year's Eve in Byron Bay yesterday.

Crowds also flocked to the beach to wash off the old year and welcome in the new.

Gold Coast visitor Chantelle Sinclair said after two days of no sleep that she and her friends would spend the day snoozing on the beachfront. Some had also opted for a kebab breakfast to help with the recovery, she said.

Chris Ellis, of Brisbane, spent 'a fantastic night' dancing at Trip Kicks at the Great Northern Hotel, followed by a welcoming of the New Year on the beach with hundreds of other party-goers.

He and his friends Jess Orttier, also from Brisbane, and Simon Timms, from Lismore, would relax at the beach for a few hours yesterday morning before making their way to a doof party at Kyogle.

Meanwhile, Sydneysiders Lauren Ireland, Chad Lewis and Sharon Ireland headed to a local cafe for the traditional bacon and egg recovery breakfast. …
