KEEN observers of politics have plenty to look forward to in 2010.

Election years are always exciting.

This particular election year should not be any different.

The battle between Kevin Rudd PM and old People Skills himself, Tony Abbott, will be intriguing. They're polar opposites in many respects, which is exactly what has been missing from the political sphere in this country for too long.

And we won't have to wait long for the fireworks to begin, with the Rudd Government due to reintroduce its carbon pollution reduction scheme legislation when Parliament resumes next month.

People Skills will make life more than a little uncomfortable for Rudd, particularly in the short term.

It's still unclear how someone as bland as the Prime Minister continues to enjoy such popularity among voters.

Mind you, John Howard was Prime Minister for 11 years.

On the home front, the marginal electorates of Page and Cowper again stand to benefit greatly from yet another election. …
