Thieves Steal Izaiah's Fishing Box of Dreams

IT TOOK Izaiah Schwerin months to save up for the perfect fishing tackle box, and just seconds for some lowlife to rob him of the prized possession.

In that same instant, the Sunshine Coast teenager's view of Hervey Bay as the perfect holiday fishing destination was destroyed.

The 14-year-old angler has been staying in the Bay with his family but got a rude shock when his tackle box, complete with lures and other fishing equipment, was cruelly stolen from him at the Burrum Heads boat ramp on Wednesday.

The experience has left him devastated and is a Hervey Bay welcome his family could have done without.

Izaiah's mum, Tracey, wants to know what sort of scumbag would steal from a teenager.

"He walked away from the tackle box and then a couple of minutes later went back to get some bait and it was gone," Ms Schwerin said.

"He was only about five metres away."

She said the box itself was better described as a bag and was worth about $350 but also contained a number of irreplaceable items, such as the hand-made lures Izaiah and his grandfather had crafted together. …
