AS the big freeze continues, talismanic striker Robbie Dale's eagerly anticipated Blyth Spartans comeback has been put on hold.

The 26-year-old last started a game at the end of October in the 4-1 defeat against Ilkeston Town at Croft Park.

Subsequent knee surgery sidelined the former UniBond Golden Boot winner, though he played a few minutes in the FA Trophy win over Ilkeston on December 12.

The Spartans have been unable to play since and the now fully fit Dale has, along with the rest of the squad, been left kicking his heels.

With little prospect of tomorrow's Trophy game against Guiseley at Croft Park going ahead, Blyth's players will head for the coast to do some beach work.

Dale said: "Having missed the whole of November due to injury I certainly didn't expect to be waiting until well into the New Year to start a game.

"There is no chance of the Guiseley game going ahead on Saturday and I'll be very surprised if we are able to stage the second round tie on Tuesday. …
