CRICKET: A devastating 142 from Bundaberg batsman Steve Nichols set up a comfortable win for the home side against Fraser Coast yesterday at Salter Oval.

Bundaberg made 284 - well above par on a slow outfield - and bowled Fraser Coast out for 192 in the 49th over.

It was deja vu for Fraser Coast, who watched as he amassed 136 against the team in their previous meeting.

They only had themselves to blame though, dropping him twice in slips in the infancy of his innings.

"That was definitely the turning point, because if they had got him cheap we would have been in a lot of trouble," victorious captain Zac Keune said.

Nichols hit four sixes in his knock, with the 142 coming from just 115 balls.

He was dismissed in the 38th over with the score at 217 and Bundaberg in full control.

It continued a stellar season for the red-hot all rounder.

He shared in a 158-run stand with fellow Country Wests batsman Dan Faulkner. …
