THE bad weather has severely hit the table tennis programme.

Several Northumbria Winter Table Tennis League fixtures were postponed and the Western Masters tournament at Hereford, featuring several North East players, was also cancelled.

One Premier Division match which did beat the weather resulted in NESLC B claiming a 7-3 victory over Cramlington Stingers.

Jim Stamas and Richard Wilson remained unbeaten in singles and doubles.

Three from Rob Dodds and two each from John Rowell and Mike Bradley gave Birtley B a muchneeded 7-3 win at North Shields YMCA B in their Division Two fixture.

A brace apiece from George Hui, Terry Kwong and Alan Lam assured Newcastle Community B of a 6-4 success in Division Three over Ouston B. In Division Four, Angus Poole and Rob Lee bagged a brace apiece for Cramlington Spartans.

However, it was not enough as the Ravens triumphed 6-4 with Akshay and Shiv Pabary also taking two victories each plus the vital doubles.

ST Aidans A gave away starts of between five and 15 to St John C - but still came through 6-3 in their first-round match in the Sunderland and District League's Team Handicap competition. …
