CHRIS HUGHTON has revealed his eagerness to banish bad memories of last season's FA Cup nightmare against Hull City.

United, of course, painfully crashed out of the competition at this exact same stage after earning a replay against the Tigers in a game which gave Phil Brown's another Indian sign over the Magpies in a season to forget.

Brown was sent to the stands exactly a year ago along with then boss Joe Kinnear for an altercation after Fabricio Coloccini and Daniel Cousin had clashed on the halfway line, leaving both assistant bosses - in Hughton and Brian Horton - in charge.

Cousin went on to snatch the winner and there were ugly scenes in the tunnel after the match as Paul McShane and Seb Bassong brawled during a media interview.

To add insult to injury, United were later relegated and Hull stayed up on the last game of the season amid abject scenes as Brown rubbed salt into open wounds by performing a celebratory sing-song with fans at the end of the campaign. …
