Wild Teen Party Was Accident Waiting to Happen: Resident

HUNDREDS of drunk teenagers at an out-of-control party was an accident waiting to happen, a Walker Street resident said yesterday.

A 15-year-old girl was hit by a car on the Maryborough street after running on to the road at 10.30pm on Saturday.

Police said the male driver who hit the teenager would not be charged.

Sergeant Paul Behne said police investigations found the driver was not at fault.

A witness to the crash said the girl ran across the road after a boy when she was struck.

"I watched her hit the windscreen and land on the road," Walker Street resident Marion Faithfull, who called triple-0, said.

"There was a big party with hundreds of kids and it was getting out of control by 9.30pm.

"I called the police and they came and drove past but they didn't stop; they did nothing. If they'd broken up the party then, this might not have happened."

Ms Faithfull said a large group of youths surrounded the 22-year-old driver of the car after the girl was hit. …
