PARENTS preparing their children to go back to school face whopping bills this year as the cost of tuition, uniforms and books continue to rise.

Leanne Patience lived up to her name when The Gympie Times ran into her yesterday while she was shopping for school supplies but the mother-of-three said she was feeling the pinch as the cost of getting her kids back to school had risen this year to around $300.

With two primary school-aged children and one in high-school, Mrs Patience said she was finding it aespecially harda, particularly after Christmas spending.

"In New South Wales the government gives you $50 for each child a[pounds sterling]that would have been very helpful," she said.

Waiting until the last minute to get the kids ready to go back to school can lead to unnecessary frustration as well as higher costs, however Mrs Patience said it was important to shop around for bargains and keep receipts for the 2010 education tax refund. …
