TAKING surf lifesaving from Alexandra Headland to Alexandria in Egypt is a daunting challenge, but Kristy Ellis is up to the task.

Kristy, a former world ironwoman champion when she raced as Kristy Munroe, will be involved with organising the 2010 surf lifesaving world titles to be held in the ancient coastal city.

The honour is part of her duties in her new role as an athletes' representative on the International Life Saving Federation board.

Kristy agreed that managing a surf championship in Egypt posed some difficulties.

"The logistics area is a huge challenge as the world titles have not been to a country like Egypt," she said.

"I know there are differences between the feminine and masculine (worlds) in their culture, and we are not really sure what to expect."

The Alexandra Headland champion captained the Australian team to victory at the 2008 world titles.

On Australia Day this year, she was awarded the Sunshine Coast Council Sport and Recreation Award. …
