Let's face it, no matter what amount of money you have, you always want more. I believe, however, that we can live with so much less than what we have, yet when we lose our material possessions we seem to think that our life is over - and for too many this actually becomes a reality.

I'll never forget hearing the story of a California man who was so distraught because he could not find work and was having financial difficulties (he later attested to this in a letter he left for police) that he shot and killed his mother-in-law, his wife and three sons and then himself inside a home in an upscale San Fernando Valley neighborhood back in 2008.

Have we seriously begun to equate the amount of money that we have or don't have in this country to the value of our own life and to our family members' lives? I think it's so ironic how it states on the back of our own dollar bill "In God we trust," yet, so many choose to trust money, something that I believe can come and go sporadically in our lives. …
