Rosewood's Vinnies Set to Support Locals

THE St Vincent de Paul Society Queensland is set to expand its operations into Rosewood, with a new retail outlet to open on Wednesday.

Acting state president Brian Moore commended the society's Ipswich Regional Council and the Western Central Council on their initiative in opening a new 'Vinnies' store, which will be based at Royal George Lane.

"The society has long had a presence in the west of Brisbane, and we are thrilled to be able to open another shop in the area," Mr Moore said.

He said money raised from sales would go towards helping people in need in the local area.

Western Brisbane Central Council retail operations manager Sharyn McDonnell said there was a growing need for the outlet.

"We have got stores in Boonah and Gatton. Little country towns seem to support us," Ms McDonnell said.

"If you are short of cash, then you usually don't have the money to buy fuel to go to the next town to source what you need. …
