A GANG of youths went wild this week in South Tweed, trashing a Heffron Street house and breaking into Tweed Heads South Public School and Tweed Indoor Pool complex.

Tweed Police Sergeant Mark Garner said they had eights calls to Heffron Street on Thursday night.

"They have absolutely run rampant," Sgt Garner said.

"Cars from Tweed Heads, Kingscliff and Murwillumbah were called.

"We've got a number of suspects; one male youth has been caught on CCTV breaking into the pool."

The youths were believed to be aged 15 to 17 years, Sgt Garner said.

He added the Tweed Skate Park has been identified as a trouble area.

"I went down there this morning (Friday) and a lot of people are absolutely disgusted," Sgt Garner said.

A Tweed Shire Council spokes- woman said they met with police last year to discuss what measures could be carried out to reduce anti-social behaviour around the skate park.

"Police requested lighting in the car park to remain on until 10pm, which is now happening," she said. …
