NEXT time you need a taxi, why not opt for a bit of style?

Mackay's newest taxi - a Chrysler 300c - has only been on the road for four weeks, but it's already proving popular with business people and those heading out for special celebrations.

Dwayne Sehmish and Brett Makings, who operate the diamond service taxi, say it provides a higher level of service than standard taxis.

"We try to look after a person better than a normal cab would," Mr Sehmish said.

"We saw a market for looking after people a bit better - especially for the businessmen coming into town. Their time is precious. They don't want to be sitting at the airport for half-an-hour waiting for a taxi."

Mr Sehmish said the car provided its clients with a more comfortable drive, with a leather interior and a DVD player to be installed for longer journeys.

It caters for special events such as weddings, formals and balls but can also be hired out by those wanting to add a special touch to a day or evening out. …
