Coast Culture Finds Its Way to Boulder; Australia Day Hails Colorado Launch of Noosa Yoghurt

A PIECE of Noosa is now on sale in Colorado. A company called Noosa Yoghurt was launched on Australia Day, albeit in a very American marketplace.

And it all started with an Aussie girl named Koel Thomae and a chance tasting while visiting her mum at Noosa in 2005.

She happened to come across a Queensland Yoghurt product and was hooked instantly.

The QUT graduate then went overseas and, making the best use of her dual American citizenship, started her travels in the US.

"I fell in love with the beauty and spirit of the West and never left," she said.

"As an ex-pat I've never stopped missing home.

"I've been working in the natural food industry for many years, for which Boulder is a hub in the US."

Even in Boulder, about 12,800km away, Queensland Yoghurt was never far from her mind.

"It captured my heart and, after two years of longing, the encouragement of several American friends who got tired of hearing me talk about it, and one more visit with a mother who wouldn't let me give up, I finally sat down with Paul and Grant Mathewson, the two brothers behind the Queensland Yoghurt company," she said. …
