Businesses' Aviation Fate Still Up in Air

THE FATE of aviation business operators at Maryborough Airport is still up in the air with no progress made by the council since the men and the mayor met on February 5.

"Nothing's happened," Pro-Sky Flight Training Group's Russell Middleton said.

"Maryborough Aviation Services' Col Miller and I met with the mayor and councillor Gerard O'Connell and the decision was the council would form a committee with business operators, councillors and Mark Woodbury, an aviation consultant, to look into how the airport could be best used.

"My last communication with Mayor Kruger was by email on February 9. I thanked him for his time and asked him, what do I do now? He replied once the airport land use study was presented to council 'on February 17' he would contact me."

But the land use study was not presented at Wednesday's meeting and is now ostensibly scheduled for discussion among the councillors on March 3.

"If nothing happens by the end of March I'll take further action," Mr Miller said. …
