MAKE 'MUCH ADO' PLANS

About 20 accomplished authors will participate in the Jacksonville Public Library's annual literary celebration. Much Ado About Books takes place Friday and Saturday. Tickets are required for some workshops and the gala, but many events are free.

Everything is happening at Jacksonville's Main Library, 303 N. Laura St. Participating authors include Sara Zarr ("The Story of a Girl"), Chris Bohajalian ("Midwives") and Katherine Hall Page ("The Body in the Snowdrift"). To plan your literary weekend, visit muchadoaboutbooks.com to see a detailed schedule.

A news release describes it as a tool to "assist parents in opening a dialogue with their children about ... safety concerns." It costs $12.95 at donttalktostrangers.net.

MORE KUDOS FOR WOOD

"Voices of St. Augustine" (Florida Kids Press, $8.99), a young adult novel by Mandarin writer Jane R. Wood, first published in 2004 and republished in 2008, has won a coveted Mom's Choice award for 2010. The group "recognizes authors, inventors, companies, parents and others for their efforts in creating quality family-friendly media products and services," according to news releases. …
