ASHINGTON are level on points with third-top Dunston UTS in the Skilltrainingltd Northern League First Division following a comfortable 4-1 victory at Horden CW last night.

Gary Middleton's side made the best possible start, scoring twice in the first five minutes through recent signing from Ryton Alex Benjamin and Gareth Bainbridge.

Benjamin beat goalkeeper Craig Shields a second time before Andy Shingleton reduced the home side's arrears.

But his strike was only temporary respite - and before the interval Steven Baptist struck the Colliers' fourth goal.

Horden played better in the second period but managed just one goal as Steve Thomas beat Karl Dryden with a direct free-kick.

The other five First Division games were postponed, as was the Brooks Mileson Memorial Cup tie between Tow Law Town and Consett. IN Division Two, bottom-ofthe-table Birtley Town failed to halt Stokesley's fine form, which has seen them claim 44 points out of a possible 48. …
